Rony Rogoff is Arts Professor at New York University, Abu Dhabi. He is currently building an orchestra for the university. A conductor and violinist, he studied at the Juilliard School in New York with Ivan Galamian and Dorothy DeLay, as well as in Switzerland with Joseph Szigeti. As a soloist, he has been accompanied by leading orchestras in Tel Aviv, Paris, Madrid, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Tokyo, Manila, Caracas, Copenhagen, and Munich, under conductors including Sergiu Celibidache, Leonard Bernstein, Arthur Fiedler, Aldo Ceccato, and Zubin Mehta. His long-standing collaboration with Romanian conductor Sergiu Celibidache has been most influential in Rogoff’s professional life. He served as Celibidache’s violin soloist. Celibidache’s unique knowledge of music permeates his highly-regarded master classes for violin and chamber music, as well as his orchestra building. Many of Rogoff’s students are now members of the most prestigious orchestras and chamber music societies in the world.
